BIO

Versatile dancer, Barbara Vargas, is one of few Tap Dancers in the world who pursued a Diploma in Music, using her shoes as her major instrument. Her wide variety of performance experience locally and internationally allows her to jump into many different types of projects, from Musical Theatre to a Tap Dance percussionist. One of her highlights include performing at the Edmonton International Jazz Festival in 2018 and 2019.

Barbara holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta. She loves sharing her love for dance with the next generation. Currently she holds the position of sessional instructor at MacEwan University, within the Faculty of Theatre Arts.

From 2003-2010 she had the opportunity to study through International Internships in Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles. This gave her the opportunity to learn from the masters in Tap Dance and learn the business behind tap dance events and festivals. Over the years she has developed a passion for stage and event management.  Barbara was for years a leader in the Edmonton-area and Vancouver Tap dance community, participating and creating in a wide range of local to International events and programming.

She looks forward to future projects and the continued opportunity to create magic.
